When working with an affiliate manager in an affiliate network it is imperative that there is a relationship of trust between one another (client or affiliate and their affiliate manager). I have been in the affiliate marketing arena since 2004 and I’d like to share some tips on how an affiliate can gain your affiliate managers trust.

Here are my 7 Highly Effective Ways.

1. Start Off Small - When your account is approved, I would suggest asking your affiliate manager what is converting, what is a true network exclusive and get the respective data or conversion metrics on those offers. When you are ready to ‘turn on’ your traffic, start slow. Why? Because you have yet to establish a relationship with your affiliate manager and the network. You don’t want to go and generate 1000 debt leads a day that pays out $25.00 and not get paid for it. This will raise a red flag and will be an issue if the leads come back from the Advertiser as poor quality or invalid leads that didn’t convert. Also, it is best to speak to your affiliate manager daily via IM, phone or email in the beginning to make sure that the quality is OK from the Advertiser.

2. Account History – Make sure that your account with the affiliate network is updated and real. When the affiliate manager calls you to verify you account, in order to get approved and get paid, make sure that you give your real name, address etc. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard of affiliates applying to networks with fake names and addresses. You will get caught and will not be paid for your traffic that you generate. As well they affiliate networks are smart. They have processes in place to make sure that you are “real.” Think of the affiliate network as a a partner. Similar to a bank. Your success is their success.

3. Campaign Competitiveness - Always make sure that you are competitive with payouts. Although, you will have to build rapport over time with your affiliate manager in order to get the high payouts, always do your homework and research. There are several places where you can research or learn what the “going rate” is on any offer. One great example is Offervault. Offervault is a free service that allows you to browse and search for offers from these top networks. You can find CPA and Affiliate Programs from top CPA networks.

Once you have been working with your affiliate manger for long enough, and have built trust, you can then start to ask for higher payouts. If you have a good affiliate manager, he/she should automatically pass these top payouts on to you.

Another great trick is to join as many notworks as possible and get on their mailing lists for newsletters. Keep yourself updated with all the new offers that are being promoted on the different networks. This can be used as leverage when negotiating.

4. Quality Traffic – I can not stress how important this is to everyone. Having seen both sides of the business (starting and working at several affiliate networks), Affilaite Management and Business Development), affiliates generating poor quality is a huge mess. It causes such problems internally at any affiliate network. The Advertiser gets upset, the affiliate manager gets upset, the business development manager gets upset and accounting gets upset. Plus, you could be kicked off the network and have all of your funds that is owed to you frozen. Not good! Your affiliate manager represents you. Yes! But at the end of the day he works for the network. He hears it from the Business Development Manager that is at the jeopardy of loosing his client (the Advertiser) because of poor quality traffic (fraud, charge backs, invalid downloads, bogus leads etc.). Make sure to always generate the BEST quality traffic and leads. The name of the game is Quality not Quantity.

5. What are other affiliates doing? - No one knows better than your affiliate manager. They are in the trenches when it comes to affiliate marketing. They deal with hundreds of affiliates and see the day to day traffic. Ask them what is working on this offer? Email, Search, Display etc. They can share some valuable information with you when it comes to what is making money on the network. The are your partners and have tremendous useful information. Utilize their experience and time.

6. Meet face to face – Noting is better in business than doing a face to ace meeting and shaking your affiliate managers hand in person. Go to Ad:tech, Affiliate Summit or PpubCon. Make plans to meet your affiliate manager and the network team. Stop by their both and say hi. Have dinner with them and talk about growing the relationship and making it stronger. Talk about new traffic sources or what you have been up to. How you can get a higher payout or how you want to win the latest contest.

7. Show your pages and traffic sources – I know that this is hard to do but, until you can show your affiliate manager your pages, the relationship just isn’t completley trustworthy. Don’t show them all of your cards from day one, hold something back. You don’t want to give them your keys to the kingdom right away. As much as you need to earn your affiliate managers trust, you need to make sure that you trust them as well. This takes time. Like any relationship that is new. Ask your affiliate manager to sign a NDA perhaps. I have seen this before and protects your best interests and your proprietary information. By revealing your pages your affiliate manager can make suggestions and recommendations based on their experience and history in the sapce.

To sum up this post, I think, just like any business relationship that is new and fresh, both parties are always a little nervous, anxious and excited to get going and start making money together. My advice to any affiliate that is looking to Gain Your Affiliate Managers Trust is to follow the above steps and make sure that you are upfront, real, available and have all the integrity in the world to make this relationship work.

I know from experience that it is a two way street. One never benefits from a business deal or relationhip without the other. Focus on the prize and go after it. To quote the fable The Tortoise and the Hare “Slowly buy Surely wins the Race.”

I have been consulting clients for 10 years now and with my experience I have to say that one I have learned that one company is no different than the next when it comes to a relationship marketing strategy and implementation . When I meet with potential clients (the first meeting), and hear what some of their issues are, I can’t help to notice that they all suffer from the same problems when it comes to internet marketing.

That being said, below is a credibility checklist of what I think is vital when it comes to a relationship marketing strategy in the internet marketing space.

1. Be proactive and responsive – listening to your clients needs and wants. Help them to understand soo that you can position your services to what their needs are.

2. Be an educator and motivator. Learn as much as you can about the industry. In your offline time, read industry related books, magazines, listen to podcasts, watch videos etc. Something that helps me tremendously is attending chamber meetings, business functions or Meet Ups.

3. You are there for them, they are not there for you. Positioning your services to be there to help grow their business. Have the attitude of whats in it for you NOT me.

4. Be likable. It is so important that people like you. Show them that you are on their side, and on their team. I can’t help to feel that when I enter an organization as the “consultant” the internal team thinks I am the bad guy. Therefore there is only resistance to any success. If the internal team likes you, you will get things easier and without any resistance. Be nice to the secretaries. Be nice to the shippers. Be nice to the son of the president that does nothing, who comes in at 12pm and leaves at 4pm andt get paid full time (I have seen this).

5. Value Added Business or Insight. Be a relationship manager. Suggest to a potential client a really good copywriter if he needs one. If you are trying to get the Social Media budget, but the potential client is not ready to move forward here… be patient. Open your Rolodex to him.

6. Stay in constant contact. I can’t say this enough. Use and Auto responder, Twitter, Facebook, Newsletter. Always, keep n contact with your clients and potential clients.

7. Know the Internet marketing tools that are available. Know your topics. Keep you ear to the ground when it comes to new technologies, processes and procedures. This is where education plays a huge example. Learn, learn, learn. Immerse yourself in everything digital media.

8. Practice, communication skills, presentation skills, follow up skills, negotiating. Do you truly know whats your customer needs, how she feels? These are imperative when it comes to relaying value and “winning the deal.”

9. Set the next appointment at the end of your current meeting. This is so important. Always, ask for a follow up meeting. What are the next steps? ABC (Always Be Closing).

10. Leave something of value. A business card, persistence, your integrity, a smile remembering names of wives, daughters, sons, dogs.

All in all, following the above relationship marketing strategy or my checklist will only benefit you when it comes to building value for not only your personal name but also your brand name or company name. By following this checklist I can assure you that you will be referred business and it will only make you more credible when it comes to “closing the deal.”

When it comes to contextual advertising to target market online, I can not stress enough to clients (advertisers/merchants) the importance of it as a online marketing tool. For some reason they are not doing it. When I ask to them “are you targeting your users online by doing any contextual advertising,” their response is always “what’s that? I go on to define what it is in the online marketing arena and give them a little tutorial on what it is and how to leverage it to their advantage.

Contextual advertising with targeting enables an advertiser to show ads in the context of another site. For example, if a company makes coffee related products like espresso machines, mugs and coffee makers, the advertiser can set their ads to show on coffee related websites. Contextual advertising with targeting is a way of advertising directly on sites contextually relevant to the product or service being advertised.

Contextual targeting advertising is different than search targeting. Search targeted ads are shown on search results pages in response to a users query. Search results pages are an important method for finding information on the web, however they make up only around 5% of the pages on the internet and are an even smaller portion of where web users spend their time. Purchased decisions are made up all over the web. On search sites, shopping comparison sites, professional interest pages, targeted email newsletters and so on. Contextual targeting advertising is often used to influence purchased decisions.

My personal opinion is that more advertisers should be using contextual advertising models to target. It is a market that merchants and advertisers are not looking into and should. As you can see below in the pie chart, the “Internet” makes up 95% of search marketing. Don’t you want t piece of this?

I have embedded below 2 slides from a power point presentation on the pros and cons of contextual targeting advertising.

An Internet Marketing Course Can Change Everything

Selecting the right internet marketing course is essential when attempting to make money online. The reason for this is because if a course doesn’t outline everything you need to know in order to be successful then you are going to have a very hard to time making a dime online. Not to mention that a course that offers no real value is a course that is a waste of your money. Think about it for a second. Do you want to start making hundreds of dollars a day or do you want to waste your hard earned cash on a crappy product?

Don’t worry just yet though, because I am going to tell you exactly what you need to know in order to select the best internet marketing course.

Making Money Online Doesn’t Have To Be Hard

Remember, making money through the internet doesn’t have to be an impossible task. In order to be successful you just need to follow a plan of action that has been tried and proven to work. And this is why it is extremely important to get the best internet marketing guide possible.

In order for a marketing course to be considered worthy of your time and money it should include several things. First of all, it should already have proven itself to help other internet marketers just like yourself achieve financial freedom using the methods that it preaches. If a course hasn’t helped others out then it probably isn’t going to help you out.

Another important thing that an internet marketing course should include is everything it takes to be successful. Now, I realize that this is very vague. But in this case it should be. A course for marketing online needs to include a step by step process that goes over everything you need to know in order to make money.

Find A Course That Has Been Endorsed By Someone You Can Trust

Above all, when it comes to finding the right course for marketing on the internet you need to make sure that it is recommended by someone who is actually earning money online. For example, if an internet marketing guide is reviewed by someone with a professional looking website and who provides an in depth analysis of the product then it is probably going to be worth your time and money. Remember, you can do this!

Do you want to know a little secret when it comes to making money online and internet marketing? If you truly want to earn money then you need to have access to an honest internet marketing course. Guess what? I’ve gone through all of the courses for internet marketing and I’ve analyzed each and everyone to see if they really offer value or if they are just hype. Do you want to know what I found? There was only one course that offered a genuine way to make money online with no experience at all.

I have literally done all of the hard work for you. I’ve tested what works and what doesn’t so that you don’t have to. If you want to take advantage of my hard work then click the link below to read my review of the very best internet marketing course out there.

The Internet has brought many unique benefits to marketing, one of which being lower costs for the distribution of information and media to a global audience. The interactive nature of Internet marketing, both in terms of providing instant response and eliciting responses, is a unique quality of the medium. Internet marketing is sometimes considered to have a broader scope because it refers to digital media such as the Internet, e-mail, and wireless media; however, Internet marketing also includes management of digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems.

Internet marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including

Design, Development, Advertising, and Sales.

Internet marketing does not simply entail building or promoting a website, nor does it mean placing a banner ad on another website. Effective Internet marketing requires a comprehensive strategy that synergizes a given company business model and sales goals with its website function and appearance, focusing on its target market through proper choice of advertising type, media, and design.

Internet marketing also refers to the placement of media along different stages of the customer engagement cycle through

search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), banner ads on specific websites, e-mail marketing, and Web 2.0 strategies.

Internet marketing is associated with several business models:

E-commerce – goods are sold directly to consumers (B2C) or businesses (B2B), Publishing – the sale of advertising, Lead-based websites-an organization generates value by acquiring sales leads from its website, and Affiliate Marketing-a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate marketing efforts.

Advantages:

Relatively inexpensive when compared to the ratio of cost against the reach of the target audience Measuring statistics easily and inexpensively Nearly all aspects of an Internet marketing campaign can be traced, measured, and tested. The advertisers can use a variety of methods: pay per impression, pay per click, pay per play, or pay per action. Therefore, marketers can determine which messages or offerings are more appealing to the audience. The results of campaigns can be measured and tracked immediately because online marketing initiatives usually require users to click on an advertisement, visit a website, and perform a targeted action. Such measurement cannot be achieved through billboard advertising, where an individual will at best be interested, then decide to obtain more information at a later time. Exposure, response, and overall efficiency of Internet media are easier to track

The effects of multichannel marketing can be difficult to determine, but are an important part of ascertaining the value of media campaigns.

As an owner and operator of a landscaping business, it is of the utmost importance for you to establish your business early by remaining in contact with customers, so that your work is consistent in the high season.

An email marketing solution is the best way to drive repeat business or secure new customers whom you have recently quoted. First of all, it costs just a few dollars to send one thousand professionally designed emails. Especially for landscaping companies, the design of your campaign is very important. Through an attractive email design, you will be able to gain more information on your customer’s interests, and, at the very least, whet their palate by allowing them to imagine everything that is possible for their own yards.

The design is very easy to accomplish, and anyone who knows how to turn on a computer will be able to create a masterful email marketing solution campaign. All it takes is having some digital photos of your work (make sure that they are well-lit beautiful images. After all, this is how you are selling your product), copying some words into the text editors that go with your images, and then just sending out your email. Your design will include various pictures of the work that your landscaping company has done. Make sure you include high-end work as well lower-cost work. When including this work, all images will be linked to your website (yes, having a website is imperative in this day and age). Linking is also a really simple task: all it takes a couple clicks of a button to have your images linked to your website.

The reason linking to your website is a crucial part of the design is because the top email marketing solution services offer a “tracking beacon” associated to the emails that are being sent out. With that beacon technology, you will be able to see exactly which of your subscribers have opened your email, which of them have clicked on the images (or links) in the email, and which have decided to forward the email on to their friends. Best of all, this tracking technology is fully included in your services, so you never have to pay extra for it. By designing the campaign to include different kinds of landscape designs, when your subscribers click on the links, you will be able to see through the tracking beacon where your customers’ interests lay. This is invaluable information, as it helps you with future campaigns. That is, you can target their interests and offer them tailored promotions so that they stay on as customers.

For those customers that do not click, you have still established your business in the mind of the potential repeat or new customer, as the preferred landscaper. This is crucial in making sure you have customers that are constantly in the “pipeline”, keeping business rolling during peak and off-peak season.

Another thing to keep in mind when venturing into an email marketing solution: It is important to use email as your method of communicating business matters with your customers. As an example, if you need to send an invoice, do it through email rather than snail mail. If you need to send quotes, send them through email. On the one hand, you will be saving money on paper and print, saving time and, therefore, even more money. On the other hand, you set the customer’s expectation to receive emails. They receive information quicker and have easier access to it, and they have less junk paper to store. So many people are already receiving their bills and invoices via email. In fact, many people are already expecting to receive information from you in this medium. Plus, if you perform official business via email, your customers are more likely to pay attention when you send out an email promotion, newsletter, etc.

An email marketing solution – with its low cost and high returns – will provide you with the most effective way to target your potential and return customers. By designing your campaign to gather information on your customers, you will be setting up your landscaping company to receive more and more work orders and estimates, keeping your business thriving and growing in any economic climate.

As the current time is changing too fast, the needs and the demands of customers are also changing constantly. The good organizations are also changing their strategy to fulfill the customer’s expectations and to prove their organization as a customer oriented. Most customer service centers are giving the best service to be best suited on the customers needs and working speedily to increase the level of satisfaction of their potential customers.

The important Question comes that “What should be measured and how?” As contact centers have become more sophisticated, there are significant opportunities to transform the customer experience, add value and multiply returns. Most customer service centers have concentrate on the daily incoming calls. To measured there are important opportunities to transform the customer experience, add value and multiply returns.

The one good way is quick reply to the customers query but here one thing is very important i.e. if the information lacks the necessary knowledge and skill level to solve the customer’s issue, then the only thing the company has accomplished is frustrating its customer 20 seconds sooner. For any organization or customer services center have only one goal to provide the best efficiency for customer services. To be a one the strategy of interaction to customer is very necessary.

Success has changed little over the years due to automata ion in data management. Call centers are typically pretty good at measuring what happened in terms of when a call arrived, where it went, and how long it took, but are not as good at linking the result or outcome of the call.

To build a customer-centric environment, companies need to base agent rewards on their ability to satisfy customers. Using the voice of the customer as a quality metric will encourage agents to deliver better performance because they have a direct stake in what they are being measured against. The key is the ability to link the outcomes with the people and the processes that were involved in each of the transactions. This will result in more accurate evaluations and help you better focus your training efforts.

By rewarding agents who were able to arrange regular call-backs, the company was quickly able to change agent behavior, while increasing both sales and customer satisfaction.

If agents are measured strictly on talk time, they may not care whether they solve a customer’s problem, as long as they wrap the call quickly. The company’s accountants or the contact centre manager may be happy, but hardly anyone else is. Bottom line: you can’t measure speed and think that a positive speed of answer metric translates to customer satisfaction.

Does a company benefit more by saving 20 seconds on a call?, or by winning a customer for life by taking extra time to create a satisfying experience?

The problem lies in how you determine which metrics are most important for measuring agents’ performance; and how you use the information to motivate agents, identify specific problems and improve their performance.

In the modern day world, most people use mobile phones in their day-to-day lives. The use of SMS as a marketing tool takes on added significance in this context.

Today, the ratio of ‘mobile’ population has increased compared to people accessing the Internet or people reading newspapers, for instance. Therefore, considering this revolutionary fact, smart professionals and marketing experts have come up with an extremely powerful channel for promoting product and services of their respective organisations.

With the passage of time, SMS text messaging is getting to be popular among companies that want to reach out to a wide set of customers and buyers. Moreover, it is considered as a convenient and a cost effective way of marketing and advertising. In this SMS generation, reaching a wide customer base in one go is made possible with marketing through SMS.

While venturing into the SMS platform, users must know about gateways and text. The message gateways facilitate the message traffic between businesses and mobile subscribers. The gateways are responsible for carrying text messages, content delivery and entertainment services for instance TV voting. Depending upon a messaging performance, costs and the levels of messaging services, the SMS gateway providers can be classified as aggregators. Moreover, users have to the option of choosing gateways that can be used to share messages with more than one recipient or in creating a group list, managing messages and so on.

In SMS messaging service, text message plays a vital role in promoting the specific products or services. Therefore, before floating the messages, users must check the quality of the SMS text. A text should include the different aspects of promotion. In addition, it should strike a chord with the target audiences instantly and that too at a comparatively lower costs. With all these different issues in place, an SMS service often turns out to be the best bet for any marketing campaign.

One of the great things that eMarketing has done is level the playing fields. The barriers to entry for online marketing are far lower than more traditional marketing channels. eBusiness channels mean that small start-ups with scant resources can put their products and services in front of the same audiences as Fortune 500 companies.

Many people perceive eMarketing to be a complex and difficult discipline, but in reality getting started is relatively easy. Regardless of the size of your business, you can start simply and grow as you learn more and your requirements develop.

Online marketing is more dynamic, interconnected, potentially immediate and lower risk than traditional marketing. You can measure activity and performance far more accurately and easily when you market online. Internet marketing is also far more human – this channel allows people to interact and comment. It is more communicative and a far cry from traditional ‘interrupt and repeat’ models.

Effective and Marketable Websites

There are many eMarketing channels within the online space. At the core of any successful internet marketing strategy is an effective and marketable website. Three elements that should work together to create a satisfying user experience as well as synergy with your business are the site’s design, usability and functionality.

Once the site is operational, it’s important to put tools into place that will collect and analyse your site’s data. This is the easiest way to gain empirical insights into your sites’ performance and the ways in which your customers are interacting with it. A classic mistake is leaving your website and expecting it to perform well over time. The key is to give it constant attention and improvement and to ensure that you update it regularly with quality content.

What eMarketing Channels are there?

There are a number of channels available for marketing online. These include search engine marketing, affiliate marketing, social media marketing and online media placement to name but a few. Which of these channels you chose to incorporate into your internet marketing strategy really depends on your audience and desired outcomes.

Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing comprises Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC). In both of these cases, users type keywords into the query bar of a search engine’s website (like Google.com) and the search engine returns results which show the web pages that it deems most relevant to that search.

In the PPC model, you bid on keywords and this bid in conjunction with the quality of your ad, determine its placement. The ad will only be shown for searches that match the keywords you’ve specified or, in the case of the content network, next to contextually relevant content.

SEO is a marathon, not a sprint. It can take time to achieve results and careful keyword planning and optimisation, content development, website structure, linking and analysis are all important elements in a robust SEO strategy. If this is carried out properly, a site can enjoy high rankings and longevity in the SERPs. PPC on the other hand is immediate, and can be targeted more specifically. Not only to specific keywords and sites but you can also determine which page on your site users will click through to. The difference here is that you pay for each ‘click’.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is another way to market online. It’s the online equivalent of having a sales agent or distribution partner. Affiliate marketing has massive potential as people with websites, email lists, and traffic promote your product or service. Normally, you pay a set cost per acquisition or a pre-determined percentage of the sale to the affiliate partner who referred the customer as a commission. Because this commission is results based, there is very little risk or cost involved for the advertiser.

It’s quite easy to get going with affiliate marketing, especially through the more established networks like LinkShare.com and Commission Junction (cj.com). These companies can help smaller businesses drive sales by recruiting and managing affiliates.

Email Marketing

When managed in the appropriate manner, email marketing is cheap, has great customer relationship management (CRM) potential and can be amazingly profitable. Good email marketing will build a strong personal relationship with the recipient and allow you to learn more about your customer’s likes and dislikes.

The most acceptable way to do email marketing in through permission-based emails. Here you would use a list of subscribers who have opted into receiving information via email from you. In terms of CRM, and achieving top results from your email marketing campaign, segmentation is key. Segmentation will allow you to cross-sell and up-sell appropriately, as well as target your emails appropriately so that you achieve maximum open and click-through rates.

Social Media Marketing

Web 2.0 is more collective and collaborative than what the internet was previously. Web 2.0 is characterised by user generated content (UGC), a large ‘social’ element, sharing and open source. This means that everybody can contribute, share and communicate more seamlessly and effectively.

Social media falls into the category of Web 2.0. Social media includes social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, LinkedIn and so forth, but also includes sharing sites such as YouTube and Flickr, blogs, wikis, podcasting and micro-blogging services such as Twitter. Any site that has an element of community, UGC and sharing could be considered as social media.

To leverage these communities as part of your internet marketing strategy is very powerful. Peer-referrals are far more highly valued than anonymous messages, and there is potential to have your brand and marketing message spread virally through pre-existing social networks.

You need to keep up to date with new developments and social media trends and sites to succeed in social media marketing. Also remember that social media is about conversations, not one way messages. This means that these interactions need to be managed, monitored and engaged with regularly. Simply throwing up a Facebook page is not a social media strategy – it is only a start.

eMarketing channels are most effective when they are implemented together as complementary strategies. eMarketing isn’t all that different from traditional marketing in that it’s still about getting your message out to the world. The main difference is that online you have to innovate more rapidly as everything changes so quickly.
